Maya Rose Tweten

FOUNDER + CREATIVE DIRECTOR

As an NYC-based creative entrepreneur and media maven, my career path has been anything but traditional. I have a wide range of experience across diverse creative fields—performing arts, film, photography, design, marketing, public relations and business.

In 2014, I founded MayaRose Creative LLC, a digital and print creative studio, to make ideas reality with a focus on strategic design and media for small brands, businesses, organizations and creatives. I’m lucky to own a business through which I constantly meet new people, all of whom inspire me with their unique perspectives, personalities and stories. Collaborating with my clients to turn their ideas into reality is such a joy, and I can honestly say I look forward to my work more than I ever thought I would.

I have taken on projects such as: web development and design for The Santa Fe Opera and The Metropolitan Opera; Director of Social Media for the Santa Fe Film Festival; Photographer for the International Folk Art Alliance; 3D animator and graphic designer for BadDog Design; film production for Castle Pictures; Technical Director for Anthony Roth Costanzo’s Akhnaten at The Brooklyn Museum; and the Artistic Advisory Council for On Site Opera, a producer of site-specific operas in non-traditional venues throughout New York City. // LinkedIn

Beyond my entrepreneurial ventures, I also held a prominent leadership role at The Metropolitan Opera, where I managed the international partnerships and creative marketing for The Met: Live in HD, an award-winning series of live cinema transmissions to over 2,200 screens in over 70 countries across the globe, as well as Met Opera on Demand, our online streaming service. In early February 2020, we kicked off Black History Month with our broadcast of The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, hosted by Broadway superstar & Tony winner Audra McDonald. I am passionate about the role I’ve played in bringing incredible performances like this to diverse audiences around the world.

I specialize in working with performing artists because music, theater and dance are a huge part of my personal life, having made my home onstage since childhood. I understand firsthand the struggles and rewards that come from a job requiring you to create a personal brand through which to market your work.

Since I believe it is imperative to be philanthropic with one’s time, I devote hours to pro bono work for brands and organizations that raise awareness for and give back to environmental and humanitarian causes worldwide. I act as an ambassador, volunteering my photography, graphic design, marketing, and event planning skillsets for organizations such as Rainforest Alliance, Loggerhead Marine Life Center, The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Muddy Paws Rescue. Anyone who knows me well will say that food is a passion (okay… a bit of an obsession) of mine, so I often partner with restaurants and wineries, especially those that are sustainable and organic, to market their products through Instagram.

Prior to beginning my career in design and media arts, I trained in Film Production at USC’s George Lucas & Steven Spielberg School of Cinematic Arts; Communication Design at USC’s Marshall School of Business, Annenberg School of Communication and Roski School of Fine Arts; Mass Communication & Media at ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism; Environmental Science at ASU’s Julie Ann Wrigley School of Sustainability; and Vocal Performance at USC’s Thornton School of Music.
